February 28, 2007 - March 30, 2007
For Freddie was an installation event evoking the dramatic life and death of Freddie Herko, an obscure artistic figure from the early 1960's. Herko was a founding member of the Judson Dance Theater and an early Warhol Factory character. He was a close friend of Diane Di Prima who wrote of him in her poetry and memoirs. The installation features an arrangement of documentary drawings, original music and a short publication.
A 16mm film of Andy Warhol's Haircut #1, starring Freddie Herko was screening in conjunction with the installation.
